2004 Updates

Seminar | Dec. 4-5, 2004 | Montreal, Canada
Hosted by GM Serge Baubil, there were over 80 participants from Canada and the US at this two-day intensive seminar. Participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand from GM Seo. GM Seo taught a wide variety of techniques, including joint lock, pressure point and striking techniques. The participants particularly enjoyed watching GM Seo demonstrate his famous Ki Striking techniques. GM Seo was assisted by Master Steve Seo. At the Seminar, GM Seo presented GM Serge Baubil, Founder of Hoshinkido Hapkido with his 9th Dan. Congratulations!

Seminar | Oct. 2-3, 2004 | Merrillville, IN
Over 100 participants came from all over the country to learn directly from Grandmaster In Sun Seo. GM Seo focused on numerous aspects of Hoshinsool and emphasized the concept of instantaneous focus of power and Ki when executing techniques. Master Steve Seo and Instructor Johnny Pak assisted with the seminar.

Korea Trip 2004 | April 15-24
Thank you to the 34 participants who were part of Korea Trip 2004. It was an exciting and fun nine days in Korea!

After the Championships were finished there was plenty of time for sightseeing and shopping. (Many of you had to purchase additional luggage to bring back all the nice things from Korea) Some of the highlights were the historic Bulkuksa Temple and the beautiful Surak Mountain. Also a hit with the participants was the training in Korean archery and traditional sword. (Cutting the bamboo is not as easy as it looks) Everyone also trained super hard with GM Seo during the Intensive Seminar and learned some interesting techniques. Some people were also able to see "Neofight" mixed martial arts matches at a Seoul restaurant/pub, these live matches being very popular these days in Korea.

It was a great trip for all of us and we definitely enjoyed seeing each other and spending time together. We encourage all members to plan on attending Korea Trip 2006, which of course will be another fantastic event!

The 4th International Championships and Masters Exhibition:
The 1st Busan Mayor's Cup World Hapkido Championship April 18, 2004
This year's Championship was sanctioned by the city of Busan, which is definitely a special recognition for our event. In attendance also were the former Prime Minister of Korea, Mr. Lee, Soo Sung, the mayor of Busan, and other dignitaries. The Championships was a huge success with over 600 competitors and the Demonstration was broadcasted nationally on April 25, 2004 for two hours.

Korea Trip 2004 Promotions
For those of us who train in Korean Martial Arts, it is a special privilege to be bestowed Dan promotion in Korea where the arts come from. During the Championships, the following members receive Dan Promotions from GM In Sun Seo. Congratulations!
